2013 Retailer Of The Year

The Canadian Home Furnishings Alliance is proud to recognize and honour the recipient of the 2013 Retailer of the Year Award:

The Retailer of the Year Award is dedicated to recognizing exemplary models of excellence and community service by Canadian furniture retail businesses. The story of Sears Canada is the story of the growth and success of a great enterprise and a retail icon, which Canadian consumers have come to trust for great value.

The business operations of Sears began in 1953 under the name of Simpsons-Sears with 2 retail stores in Stratford, ON and Kamloops, BC and a Spring/Summer catalogue, which rolled off the presses into 300,000 Canadian homes. Today Sears’ physical presence includes 122 full-time department stores, 378 specialty stores, 17 floor covering centres, 1,734 catalogue merchandise pick-up locations and 108 travel offices. The Sears catalogue is now issued to more than 3 million Canadian households.

Since the beginning in 1953, Sears Canada has always believed in giving back to the communities it serves. The Sears Canada Charitable Foundation distributes donations to charitable organizations that align with its mission to support the healthy development of children and youth in Canada.
